Recycled dinner party: eco-friendly, sustainable design.

Furniture designer-maker Nick James, co-founder of Designed&Made.

Designed & Made, the North East of England promotion and networking agency for contemporary crafts and design, is presenting a dinner party with a difference.

Visitors to the delight in design exhibition will see beautiful objects created for a unique dinner table by the best of the region's designer-makers, and actively engage in the pleasure of creating hand-made objects with the exhibitors.

Workshops will offer opportunities to experience the delight of handling materials, to create objects from new, old, recycled and salvaged materials.

In the months leading up to the exhibition the designers have been guided through a challenging visioning process by sustainable design facilitator Alastair Fuad-Luke, writer of The Eco-Design Handbook. They have explored local, ecological and social contexts to make sustainable objects to feature in the show, and for people to buy and take home with them.

NOTE: 'Delight in Design' is part of this year's Design Event, the North East's annual design festival taking place from 11-28 October 2007. Now in its third year, Design Event 07 includes exhibitions covering graphics, fashion, furniture, film and product design at a host of venues across the region.

Design Event 07 is part of the Dott 07 (Designs of the time 2007) year-long programme of community projects, events and exhibitions.
